MattDLEA Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Having a bit of trouble with one of our smartboards we allign it , pen on board move to middle and then lift off. everything is fine except the top half of the board on the right hand side for about 1-2cm where the pen and pointer dont match up. so say if using a window with scroll bars the the top portion of the scroll bar to click on it you have to be 1cm to the right of it. Get down half way and they match up again . Anyone else come accros this
Michael Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 It sounds like the board isn't 100% flat. This could be due to the wall not being flat or the board being warped. Is it a new problem or has it always been there?
MattDLEA Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 by all accounts it has been like it for a bit
edutech4schools Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Have you tried the 20 point alignment?
EvLPhenom Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 You could always try the 80 point alignment. We have had this in the past and the problem is still there with the 20 point. Using the 80 point fixed it.
edutech4schools Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 same as above? 20 is most listed on ours
AngryTechnician Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Open C:\Program Files\SMART Technologies\SMART Product Drivers\SBDiagnostics.exe Find this option and tick it: You should then be able to select 80-point alignment in the normal options. 1
MattDLEA Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 cheers fokes done as angry said put the tick in the box but cant find You should then be able to select 80-point alignment in the normal options. when i click orientate its still 9 point
sparkeh Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 How old is the board? Our oldest boards (around 6 years +) are suffering a similar problem and after much mucking around put it down to age\wear and tear etc. Anyone know the life expectancy of a whiteboard?
AngryTechnician Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 cheers fokes done as angry said put the tick in the box but cant find when i click orientate its still 9 point You still need to set the option for it, this tickbox just enables the 80 Point option that is usually hidden. The option is in the normal Control Panel settings under Orientation/Alignment settings. Should be right underneath the 20 point option.
AngryTechnician Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 It's under SMART Hardware Settings on the second screen.
StaffordCabling Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Have you tried using some strong tape on the surface to pull the outer skin away from the inner? Sometimes in high use areas of the board after a few years they will remain too close to each other and mess up the orientation. If all else fails try some gaffa tap to pull different areas off the inner skin then give the board a thorough clean and try again.
timzim Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Don't know if you've still got this problem. We had the same with two IWBs and I tried all sorts of things - recalibration, firmware update, etc. In the end the cure was to plug the board into a different USB slot on the PC. The PC then re-detected the board and it worked fine ever after. Tried the same on the second board - hey presto, same result.
