Hiya,

 

I, like many, would like to do something with the Raspberry Pi when it's available. I want a small 3-4 inch screen, which I'm having no trouble finding, but I want a very low voltage one, which I am having trouble finding. Does a 5v screen with an S-Video connector exist? 5v screens must do as I believe that is what is in mobile phones? If not then they're 3.3v aren't they?

 

Anyone know where I can get one? As far as I can see, the cheap ones on eBay are all 12V.

how about using 12v display and then have a voltage regulator to lower the voltage for the pi ?

I know that @Turbo-FB has been making trips to Maplins for a USB solar panel to run his off, and he may be the person to ask as regards to low powered accessories.

try that... not cheap, but good!

Places like cool components (or other robotic/tech suppliers) might be of some help or it might be too basic (if you want a plug in 5v with a HDMI connection etc). Trouble here might be that Pi is perhaps aimed more at 'plug and play' whereas good supplies of components like small displays are aimed at things like Arduino/Pic based systems which are a short boat ride from plug and play (possibly including a capsize).
