Hi,

I am thinking of changing the schools MIS away from Sims as we are a small school and its gettting more and more overblown for what we need.

ISAMS looks interesting in the brochure I have but theres no screenies on their website and my brochure is 12 months old. Anyone using it? I like the fact you can create your own modules and we would like a marketting facility to log prospective parents etc.. and keep track of them.

We would need the facility to run it locally on site too as out internet is slow and unreliable.

Theres a few others I am looking at but they don't show much on their websites.

gumuk: I'm sure a mod will be along shortly.

Don't advertise without permission.

The guy was asking for information specific to a product not asking for people to tout for business.

I don't think I'd trust anything that runs in office.

Lots of schools are using OpenOffice, and have had major headaches when Capita force people to use MS Office applications. Why an MIS would rely on proprietary and expensive third-party applications I have no idea.

Screenshot - all I can say is 'Eeek!'

SIMcfc73,

I'd happily talk to you about SIMS vs other suppliers. I now work for Capita - but previously did work in a Independent School that used SIMS to great effects.

I am currently looking how SIMS can be best used in small Independent Schools - as there are a large number of schools of this type that are not using any MIS at all. My belief is that the SIM system can be used in a limited way (if necessary) to improve pupil performance. The importance is what to do with the data that is inside your system - rather than just use SIMS for data collection.

If you are unhappy with your SIMS systemm, or would like further dialogue - please send me an email ([email protected])

My school started implementation of iSAMS over the summer, i joined the school last month, and have been very impressed with iSAMS. I have not seen the manual that you speak of being 12months old.
