glennda Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I'll post here - Custom Built Desktop PC's - Stone Computers (has been for last 3 years) Tenders went out to Novatech/Misco/BT Business Direct Servers/Switching (HP Proliant/Procurve) - Misco/BT Business Direct/Casscom/Millgate (depending on who's cheapest at the time wins!) Toner - Silicon Alley Inkwell scheme/ Ricoh For MFD leases Other bits and Bobs Misco/BT Business Direct/Casscom/Millgate depending on who's cheapest again. Licensing Trustmarque/Millgate Anti-Virus - Just purchased Avast Professional which is actually really good and great value for money (From Avosec Ltd) Projectors/Whiteboards etc - Advanced Connections - local company and great guys (but near Brighton!) I've purchased over 700 pc's in the last 3 years from Stone so they best thing to do is hangle with them lots! but then thats the same for most suppliers 1

Support has always been good so far and free imaging when you buy bulk... Advanced Connections - worked with Barry for several years now. Reliable and good standard of work, but because of that they get booked up quickly!
sonofsanta Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 PCs - bought from Novatech before, but Stone were a very close second, so I intend to always use these two for quotes in future. Servers - just bought a load from Insight - I like their website for browsing (especially compared to Misco's old one) and our school's always been on very good terms with them Networking - if not Insight, Switchshop usually have really good prices Printers - we're on contract with Fovia/Arena (who are merged) Projectors - KPMS in Yorkshire have some great prices and their installs have always been competent, quick and friendly Bits & bobs - I usually end up just buying from eBuyer on the credit card
RTFM Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 VeryPC for custom build machines (and they are custom, not generic plastic cases like Stone use. I'm talking custom laser branded cases etc). Millgate for day to day bits, servers and switches (we get quotes from the usual, Misco, Insight etc but only to scare Luke into beating prices!!) Silicon Alley for toners (their inkwell system is a great idea for schools) iComm we use for our more technical stuff, SAN purchase / Install, virtualisation solutions etc. More or less it
mrbios Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 (edited) PCs - We buy parts and build them all ourselves so: Novatech and Scan are our two primary suppliers and generally aren't beaten on prices. Servers - Local consultancy company do most of our quotes as a registered HP supplier but for comparisons we get quotes from the two above. Networking - Converge for fixed cabling, the above 3 for everything else. EDIT: sometimes comms-express if they have deals on. Printers - Mostly supplied through a company called E-Solutions via lease, they repairs are included in the contact and the printers tell them when toners are low so they're automatically ordered without us needing to do anything Projectors - AV-Lamps, suppliesforschools, or novatech/scan. bits + bobs = screwfix, stroud office supplies (local company), hills components or the best one is our skytronics account, mega cheap! Generally do price comparisons with multiple possible suppliers like insight, misco etc. for all the big purchases but to be honest they never come in cheapest. Edited January 16, 2012 by mrbios
sippo Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 (edited) I use CP for everything I need. Joe bends over backwards for me (not literally). Beats every quote I get elsewhere that I don't need to go anywhere else. And next business day, that is free of charge, is spot on. Oh and now and again he sends freebies such as chocolates.... [email protected] + 1 here for CP Ltd, as stated before Mark (and Chris and Joe when Mark's not around) works very hard making sure his quotes are the most competitive and I very very rarely have to go anywhere else when buying something. Again as stated, free next day delivery :-)
MattHarwood Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 General bits and bobs: Novatech, Play.com (very cheap and free delivery!) Ink: Internet-Ink.co.uk Haven't had a supplier quote cheaper than the above which all turn out great quality.. :-)
