Andi Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Preferably Newport/Cardiff area within easy reach by public transport. I'm trying to sort my girlfriend out with a job. She's been out of work since being made redundant as a techie at the BBC and has past educational experience working at Plymouth art college. Anyone know of anything on the grapevine?
petectid Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 See this post. http://www.edugeek.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=84558#84558
Midget Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 yay! i've even got people advertising the job for me. Andi> give me a bell tomorrow or if you are bored feel free to pop over, but you'll be looking at ~a 30mile journey each way over the heads of the valley road. If you want details tonight, drop me a PM with any questions.
Andi Posted May 10, 2007 Author Posted May 10, 2007 Thanks Midget and Pete. I did see that post, but to be honest it'd be too far for her to get to via public transport and I think that going from 1st line support to network manager would be quite an intimidating step.
Butuz Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Don't be intimidated by the word "Manager" they seem to be looking for a more Technical roll Rather than an outright Manager type judging by the payscale - apply for it! Andrew

I don't think there is a train service able to get you there, so unless you drive it's not worth considering. Get a Licence you hippy. It's considerably better than when I started. I started with a mix of win95,98 and XP with Nt4, 2000 and 2003 servers. Now everything is running well on 2003/xp and there are just a few addition to go in (new servers, IWB and a handfull of PCs). If you are willing to learn, within a few months you'll be able to take control of the DC and alter group policies without thinking. As I said in the advert, you'll be the only person on site, and as pointed out by a poster in the advert, they aren't paying NM money so can't expect to get another Graduate with server experiance. Also don't forget that up here there are very few people able to do the job, so there will be very few applicants (1 so far, and Special Agent said they may have someone who may be interested in the job) I've updated the advert with the official advert and who to contact for an application.
Andi Posted May 10, 2007 Author Posted May 10, 2007 I have a license and can drive to my job, but this is for my girlfriend, who hasn't learned to drive as she has no money after being made redundant, see my original post. Once finances are back on track she does want to learn to drive. Thanks for the info though guys.
