Absolutely, but we have to give the guys the impression that they're still in charge .... even if we know otherwise!

Incorrect.

@witch was referring to all of us Nerds/Geeks when she said "we".

It doesn't matter if they're male or female, Nerds/Geeks run the world.

Right at the end on Saturday @witch and I were walking past a stand desperately trying to get rid of freebies (pen holders).

The guy handing them out asked what I did.

"Network Manager" I replied.

He needs to learn that a surprised look in response is not a good marketing tool! (I resisted the urge to knee him somewhere painful)

Arrow+Knee jokes are only good when they apply directly to the conversation, as this did.

I have to say that it's unusual for me to come across anyone who expresses surprise that I'm a woman working in technical IT these days... which is why this guy's reaction flummoxed me.

You Say that but alot of Professional Chef's are male - just like the IT Industry. I'm all for Females in the Industry! Google is actually running a graduate program to encourage more females into the profession!

It's a regular sausage-fest.

:p

Professional Kitchens are one of the best places to work IMHO (having been there done that) not for this reason though! Its hard work though for not great amounts of money!

Just because you're safely back in Bristol! :D ;)

Have you recovered from academy-visit-envy yet @localzuk ?

My academy envy has manifested itself as a horrible cold, so it'll be a while before I recover from it. Still crying myself to sleep...
