Quackers Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Trying to help out a local primary with support, they have Smartboards (we have promethan so its new to us). A teacher says his board slowly goes out of alignment over the day getting more and more out of alignment until he snaps and does a re calibration. Should not have to be doing this all the time, checked and the projector is not moving. Anybody experienced this?
laserblazer Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 It's quite common. If you use the 27 point calibration rather than the 9, that can help a bit. 1
mrwobbly Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Downloading the latest Notebook software from SmartTech and installing will give you the latest firmware. Then upload the firmware upgrade to the board. That’s always fixed it for me. As Laserblazer has said the 20 point calibration seems to keep the board calibrated for much longer. 1
LeeBirdptinstalls Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 How old is the board??? Is it mounted over a heat source, ie radiator or pipes?? Heat can affect the gel pack in the board. 1

TommyCooper Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 If the fixes suggested by mrwobbly don't solve the problem get in touch with Steljes (SMART's UK representatives) on 08450 724999. They'll probably give you the same fixes as a first step but should be able to give you further advice if those things have already been tried. They should also be able to tell you if the board has any warranty cover left or not if you tell them the serial number.
gshaw Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 (edited) Look at the serial number, is the board an R2 or original release (newer ones have R2 after the SB680 part of the code). The older boards (circa 2006) seem to have issues with alignment, just be glad if you can draw vertical lines down the right hand side! Btw if you're doing firmware updates Steljes recommend connecting a USB cable directly to the board i.e. don't use junction boxes, wall sockets etc... never had issues before I knew of this but best to be safe than sorry! TommyCooper Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 FYI - common codes in the middle of the serial number of a SMART board are as follows (there are one or two others): R2 - manufactured in Canada - ROHS compliant H2 - manufactured in Hungary (most boards sold into the UK and Eire over the last couple of years are H2) - ROHS compliant M2 - manufactured in Mexico (not many of these in Europe) - ROHS compliant 1
nathan3388 Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 The Problem is sorted it was the SC9 Control board in the back of the board had a spare one to hand and replaced it. This solved the alignment problem.
