Aye, sad indeed. My routine at junior school age was come home, watch childrens telly until 5, then blockbusters, then neighbours etc. With 24 hour childrens TV these days that sort of "enforced learning" has gone - and the theme tune, Bob's dulcet tones and "can I have a P please, Bob" is so memorable.

Watched the opening theme for the first time in many many years tonight and never realised how Blade-Runner it is. Sad loss, but at least he died peacefully in his sleep.

Very much a loss but had been ill for some time so suspect based on what I have read in the press that it will be a blessing for his family as well as a very sad loss to them and the nation for his presenting skills.

I only found out recently that he didn't play sax. on Bakers Street. That was a good hoax that kept going for years.

Yes, it was a story put out by Stuart Maconie (though others also claim it) as a fake fact (in NME) but it was repeated in other places as a real fact ... and he played along with it on many occasions ... a cracking sense of humour and I have recently been enjoying watching old episodes of Blockbusters on Challenge TV.
