Version 5 was 6 months ago. version 4 was March, and version 3.6 was 2010. I'd be amazed if any schools stuck with Firefox with this new release cycle. Combined with the constant updates to Flash, Acrobat, and Java, its starting to get ridiculous.
elsiegee40 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I have to have Firefox on a few machines because the CMIS for our website only works properly in Firefox ( ) However since version 7, it's been telling me that the Symantec add on doesn't work and is disabled. Fortunately, the firefox users are me and the publicity manager. I've set the firefox home page to our CMIS for both of us and we both use IE in school for everything else.

I thought it was just a different numbering system in the same way the kernel has gone from 2.6 to 3.0 to 3.1. The releases haven't changed - just the numbers. If you think it's weird - why is windows 7 version 6.1 ? is doesn't even round up to 7.

thepineapplehead Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 and firefox nightly bumps itself up to version twelve I got a popup from avg earlier complaining about Firefox ... apparently its memory usage had jumped up to over 350mb! I've always loved it but my love is starting to wane. Opera works fine on my phone but apparently my processor isn't good enough to run firefox mobile ...

I only have a few tabs open in Google Chrome and my memory usage is currently 1.5GB. The most I've seen it use is around 3.5GBs which is quite a lot of RAM for a browser! http://i.imgur.com/17M3i.png One thing I've found which helps with memory usage (and load time) in Firefox is the "Don't load tabs until selected" option introduced in v8.0. http://i.imgur.com/76ARL.png 1

I use the 64-bit nightly builds of Firefox myself however. Waterfox is a 64-Bit version of Firefox. The Firefox source code is taken and compiled to run specifically for 64-Bit Windows computers. To make Waterfox stand out a bit more, it’s compiled with optimizations so that it will run more efficiently and faster than just compiling Firefox as a 64-Bit program. For some people with older systems, the 64-Bit version loads quicker and is much more responsive than the 32-Bit build. http://i.imgur.com/2LCYH.png
Arthur Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 What's so special about Battlelog that it can't support 64-bit browsers? If you set 64-bit Firefox as your default browser, could you use Battlelog Standalone as a workaround?
