Failed electrical inspection

Would anyone out there care to venture a guess as to why our stage lighting rig has been declared "unsatisfactory" due to two disused oil tanks in the basement at least 50 yards away not being earth bonded? the installation's been in for 51 years without issue, by the way...

because you have a jobsworth. I'd get a second opinion, although getting the tanks bonded shouldn't be expensive or difficult.

Is it just the rig that is unsatisfactory subject to the tanks? or the whole school?

They were only in doing the annual check for the rig so the whole school was, thankfully, beyond their remit.

I ask that every year and get a meh responce, yet get a 2nd opinion and they don't see any issues but others do so who knows! I do think there are a number of jobsworths in that area looking for a fast buck or three. A firm that I have dealings with fail the install they did themselves as earth issues my reply was well you fitted it thus why didn't you do it right in the first place to which the report then said it was not an issue and was a mistake on the report.
