Disaster Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Hi all, We've lost this bit that we need to get some of our projectors security bars off... (urgently need to replace lamp). It's a bit that fits on the end of a magnetic screwdriver that's cylindrical in shape, about inch and a half in diameter / 1cm deep. anyone know what this bit is called? much appreciated.
linkazoid Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Do you mean Security Torx? I'm sure CPC sell these.. Michael
Disaster Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 no, i know what they are... it's like a cylinder (size mentioned above) on a disc which inserts into a megnetic screwdriver like any other bit (philips/flat/socket etc...)
jamesreedersmith Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Sounds like a key lock - in which case you are out of luck
SYNACK Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Perhaps a photo of the security bar or a drawing of the device it is like a star drive Warp core
Andrew_C Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Or perhaps "System Zero"; no, scrub that, not an inch and a half... Not seen ANYTHING that size before!
SYNACK Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 So kind of like a lock nut for a car mag wheel, do you know the brand of the security bracket?
round2it Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Perhaps a photo of the security bar or a drawing of the device Warp core lol
Hawkeyez Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 :-( We have , but we only have one. We had to get one off the installers at the time.
Disaster Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 That? Steve yes that's it i'm sure! You know the name or where I can get one?
SYNACK Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 :-( We have , but we only have one. We had to get one off the installers at the time. Any markings or a shot right down the barrel as it were to see how it works, it might be replicatable by their DT people if they have them.
Hawkeyez Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 They are an odd thing, they are magnetic, and dont seem to offer much grip on the "nut" (which in our case is rounded edge flat head) I have a feeling, the few that we had that used this, have since been replaced. If you have to luck today, I will have alook around the rooms (80 odd), and see if we still need the bit.
Disaster Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 cheers, I'm hoping Steve21 will get back with some info as he has a picture so maybe he know's something, or perhaps he's like us, got it from caretakers. and now it's vanished...
Steve21 Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 cheers, I'm hoping Steve21 will get back with some info as he has a picture so maybe he know's something, or perhaps he's like us, got it from caretakers. and now it's vanished... Honestly I have no idea what it's called, Just had one sitting on my desk since I took over this job Just thought the pic might make someone recognise it. Will see if any one else in my office knows though, Steve
Hawkeyez Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Having looked at ours, you will find that the fit isnt actually circular, just slight oval.
Disaster Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 ahh, that'll explain why it can unscrew the locking nut. I thought it was magic or something up until now!
Hawkeyez Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 We also found with the cages that have these, even with the security bar removed, the projector (Epson EMP-83) still needed the pole mount removing.
HodgeHi Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Could you not dremel a line across the nut and then use a standard screwdriver? I had to do that to remove the bracket from one of our projectors since it needed to be mounted onto a new one.

Disaster Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 Good idea cheers. Looks like it is an OVAL PAN HEAD SECURITY TOOL. Just got to measure up to make sure
