Wordpress on EMBC

I'm currently looking at moving our website over to WordPress. I've setup a test site, but can't work out how to setup permalinks. I've found the setting in Wordpress admin, but every setting except /?p=N sends me to a 404 page.

 

I'm guessing it's a IIS issue, but I can't see what option I need to change, either in WordPress or Plesk. Anyone found a way of getting this to work on EMBC?

I'd say, at a guess, it's to do with Plesk not support mod_rewrite. Make sure you're not using an option which needs mod_rewrite.

Ummm I think its safe to say I work for Synetrix I put together the cPanel solution .....

 

We already have one or two schools with accounts on the cPanel solution, and I have to admit it looks a lot faster than the Plesk solution (my views - nobody elses!)

I have to say that having moved a handful of IIS based webs (some static, most CMS), the helpdesk have been superb, the OH team have excelled and the service is blinding. Having the Linux level of flexibility is a major boon to developers. Just be sure you follow the right process:

 

1. Request an OH Hosting space and indicate the school it will support (this will create ohisp.schoolname.county.sch.uk)

2. Use your preferred means to deploy the site and build it.

3. Test it to death

4. Document the site plan for future reference (in case you get hit by a truck)

5. Request that the DNS for www be directed to the OHISP IP addy and check the MX is done too

6. Wait 24 hours

7. Go to the pub
