I've not piloted anything as of yet - had a go as a chopper gunner but couldn't see anybody to shoot (although I did manage to take out a truck lol). Also made the noob error of evacuating a chopper from a great height - splat!

There's certainly a hell of a lot more to think about with this game than there is with CoD, I actually find myself already planning my attack while I wait to respawn. In CoD my plans were never more in depth than "run or camp?"

Do you lot think it's worth me investing more time in the campaign or just treat it as a separate game? What I mean is, will playing through the campaign some more help me get to grips with the MP? I have to say at the moment they feel like to completely different games to play...

You do know you can use a parachute when you jump out of choppers?!

I tend to agree with you about planning your attack. Usually for me it's bearing in mind who killed me, in/out of a vehicle, where abouts on the map he is, which then decides how I will go about getting my revenge, usually in aircraft though.

Couldn't tell you about campaign as I havent played it.. MP all the way! ;)

:faint: how?! I knew I had seen people doing it but assumed it was something you unlocked seeing as I became a pavement pancake!

That's the kind of thing I was thinking playing the campaign might teach me...

OK, this is driving me mad; how the hell do you leave a game?! There has to be a better way than resetting the Xbox?! I don't like to leave mid-game, but at the intermission screen you can't get out!

My most epic moment yet was during a quick game of SDM last night (waiting for the missus to get ready to see RHCP) - me and another Recon guy camped out on top of a hill (still can't remember all the map names yet) and covered the other 2 in the squad as they stormed another squad's spawn point - 5 successive headshots for me, a good few kills for the other recon guy and a few kills each for the 2 we were covering pushed our squad straight to the winning spot :D

Think I m up to 1.4 K/D and 1.6 w?l ratio :D

what's everyones name?

Well as you can see from my signature, my K/D is ~0.7 and W/L ~0.5 so not doing too great right now lol, although I have had a few positive K/D matches now and I'm certainly gettig better as I play (unlike CoD where it seemed to be down to pot luck whether I did well or not!)

I m PC :(

Unfortunately, my PC's no longer up to scratch for gaming! :(

I find it easier on conquest than rush, conquest is eaier because no one actually rushes!!

I've only had one go on conquest, again not sure of the map name but it was lots of jets and tanks dominating, couldn't get in to it. I'm loving SDM at the moment, seems much easier to command small teams of no more than 5 players, so long as you get the right bunch of people in your squad!

LosOjos...you need to join my friends and I when it comes to Conquest...we can pretty much own as a team (8 of us in a party, take over 2 squads) work as squads to own the objectives and kills :)

Will do! Just hope I don't get put in to the opposing team like last time!

Shame. Going to get it tomorrow and give it a try. Anyone played mw3 and battlefield here? any big differences? (and dont just say its better! lol)

I had MW3 and traded it in for BF3. I will admit, for the first hour or so I struggled to get in to it (I've had every CoD that's been on 360) because the gameplay seems so different and it's a lot harder. Once you do get in to it though (just a matter of forgetting bad habits picked up in CoD), it's a much more rewarding game to play, you genuinely will find yourself starting to work as a team and when it all comes together you feel like a mother-f'ing champion (to paraphrase Kenny Powers)

Gameplay wise, two things caught me out: although controls are almost identical, if you hold the knife button, the knife stays out, you need to tap it for a quick stab. Also, a knife isn't a guaranteed kill like it is in CoD unless you sneak up behind someone, then you get a very satisfying stealth kill. Second - if you have to jump out of a chopper, don't forget to open your parachute! ;)

EDIT: just wanted to add, on the sound advice of @nephilim you should try some team deathmatch first if you're used to CoD, it's the closest you'll get to CoD in BF3 with people running around after kills and will give you a chance to get a feel for the game. My favourite game mode right now is Squad Deathmatch - like TDM, but with 4 small teams competing head to head, tend to get more team strategy play than in TDM

I got my first jet kill last night! Also playing with the throttle (Left trigger on XBox controller) slows your craft down so you can chase people from behind.

Yea once you learn that you don't need the throttle it soon becomes easier.

Drop the throttle and you can do some nifty stuff like cutting the engines mid air when being chased......
