I have a small (6Ux550mm) wiring cabinet to fix to a brick wall. It will contain one switch and one patch bay - nothing heavy like servers or batteries - and will be well out of reach of small people.

The cabinet has four holes on the back face. I was planning to use four wall bolts, rather like these. Does that sound reasonable?

You can, however I have found they are particularly difficult to fit quite often, and getting them into the hole often makes them too loose, and they then 'spin', which means you can never lock them up!

Depending on whether the face is smooth enough, from experience, we now use very big decent wall plugs, with a lip (to stop them pushing into the wall) and coarse 'coach' screws with a hex head. They work really well, and I have done a few cabs now this way with much success. The hex head also makes it easy to use a ratchet spanner inside the cab as well. We use these rawlplugs, they really are excellent.

Hope this helps

PM your address and I will send you 4 bolts, fischer rawlplugs and washers to fit this.

That is all we used for the cabinets we put up Will, got a pack of 8 I think in screw fix for a few quit. We often have 3 Cisco switches, a router, firewall plus all the patching and power in a bigger 12U cab on the same bolts.
