Am I the only person thinking that as the distinction between telephone and computer operating systems blur, mobile phones will have an increasing impact on Teaching and Learning? Will this, or how will this come about

I agree entirely, my company already deals with several schools that use the iPhone as a learning tool as more and more learning becomes web based, add to that the fact that the latest Apple offerings will use NFC technology and they could be used for contactless payment for school lunches etc. The lines are distinctly blurred indeed.

Some mobile phones are far more capable than older pc's also with 3g they can bypass any filtering in place. I think the only problem is the size which makes them less user friendly.

We're allowing phones to be used in certain teaching areas now. There was no effective way of stopping their illicit use anyway so the decision was made to allow students to use them as a learning tool - obviously with guidelines in place. Not sure how it'll pan out but hey ho. Let's wait and see.

They certainly have their place, it's finding it that's the problem.

How do they use them and what are the guidelines? Enforced how? This is an issue I am studying at both schools and trying to get a handle on how it could benefit the teaching and learning
