neon Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Hello all, hope everyone is well, just looking for a point in the right direction really. Has anyone had any problems with parents using facebook? What standings does a school have if comments are made that "slag off" the school/staff or homework etc...? Any help much appreciated.
X-13 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 There's not really much you can do. However, you can report messages as harrasment. And if they've set up pages for/about the school you can get them taken down for misrepresentation.
elsiegee40 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Short of having a parents meeting and someone telling the parents to play nicely, not that it would work, I don't think there is much you can do unless the slurs are bad enough to report to facebook for them to be taken down forcibly I'm afraid that parents get like this... it's a noisy minority that ends up upsetting everyone The only thing I can suggest is that SLT and the governors put together a parent survey about what parents think are the good and bad points of the school and what the parents think could be changed for the better. The SLT and governing body would have to be seen to be actively publishing the results and taking action for it to have any effect.... but it would at least help everyone to find out if there some perceived major issues amongst your parents.
rad Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 So parents of your school are commenting on their Facebook profiles complaining about the school? I'd say not a lot, although the Head could send out a letter to all parents explaining that if they have an issue, here is an email address to send questions to. Unless parents contact the school, there is nothing the school can do to improve or act on whatever they are complaining about.
mthomas08 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Are they commenting on their own page? putting it as their status? Nothing you can do - all entitled to have opinions?
NikChillin Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 A sad reflection on the parent who feels the need to use facebook rather than contacting the school directly...
