Hall projector

Hi guys, hopefully some one might have done this recently.

 

Basically we want a screen and projector mounted in the hall (going to go for a rear projection setup)

 

Wiring side of it is fine as i can do that (power can be out sourced)

 

The thing that has me confused is what sort of Mounts can be purchased for an electric projector screen. We need to drop it from the ceiling probably around 4 foot. Can you purchase some sort of pole? Like whats used on the actual projector ?

 

Any one got pictures of a similar setup ?

Motorised projector screens can be incredibly heavy and will need to be fixed appropriately, I wouldn't attempt this yourself.

You would be using threaded rod and c channels with appropriate fixings.

Ours was attached to the existing lighting rig using a pair of clamps & poles. Worked a treat for us. As others say - they are really bloody heavy, so err on the side of caution.

We are looking into a new hall projector and are looking at @Millgate doing the work etc, might be worth a shout to them for a price / option? Can't ever hurt can it

just out of interest, what setups are you all looking at? rear projection? motorised screen drops? widescreen? remote-less?

The caretaker will be doing the screen ! , im not to handy with power tools lol !

 

cant see it being to complicated ! just wanted to know if there was a type of pre made bracket we could buy

Ours was attached to the existing lighting rig using a pair of clamps & poles.

 

Ours, too, which made the lighting experts who came along later wince and mutter. The screen was attached to the front-most lighting bar, all perfectly safe and able to handle the load and so on, but meant that you couldn't then attach any lights on that front-most bar. It showed when trying to light someone stood on the stage naturally - with no way to get lights behind them, their face tended to be in shadow - nice effect, but a bit dramatic-looking for a parents evening speech by the head.
