ATOM Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Hi I am looking into using print quotas in an effort to track costs usage etcand stop unwanted printing. A number of solutions do exist and we may just bite the bullitt and spend the cash, but I thought I would see if there were any cheaper alternatives to the established players - open source etc. We only have two colour lasers (HP 4600cn) and two B&W dells. We have a new canon photocopier(colour) and it's printer driver pulls users off the copier and uses a pin code system to allow both copying and printing - this has proved very effective and has cut our copier usage by 20% in this quarter! - I really would like to do the same with the HP's. Thanks for any input Simmo
Norphy Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 If you have the time to commit to setting it up, Pykota is supposed to be a good open source solution. Otherwise it's the usual suspects, Print Manager Plus or PCounter. PCounter is my preferred solution.
Ric_ Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 You will find a PyKota howto in the *nix forum Also do a search on the site.
