We use a large number of the usff dells - not just as all in one's but as wall mounted pc's to drive the whiteboards, plasmas etc. I agree that true all in one solutions offer a tidier solution on the desk but with the usff you can easily swap boxes/monitors around.

A good visualiser lets you rotate the camera arouond the object - we have an ELMO(?model) with a 650k CCD and it works very well - £1500 3 years ago - teachers love them for books, art, science etc. tried a few gooseneck ones first with cmos but they were very poor compared, the macro work with the elmo is outstanding. We are now looking at samsung or elmo for an upgrade as the one we have doesn't have a dedicated usb feed to the pc for live video on the desktop which the newer ones do. Still £1000 but well worth it.

We are only a smallish primary so anything bigger would be a bit prohibative- quality is good though - we have access to run the calibration set up - presume yours would have the same?

Hi We lease a canon 3170c which is networked - costs about 6.8p a copy for colour. Having a look now at 4600 use and see how it compares. All staff use the pin system and the printer driver also includes user management so you can set different print and copy settings as well - has helped to keep both photocopying and printing use down. Only drawback is that the ccanon is more prone to ( like all copiers) and only knocks out 6ppm - the 4600 is much faster both ppm and first page out. Will be interesting to see how it compares in the long run.

Converting video files to be used on the web site
ATOM replied to tosca925's topic in How do you do....it?
Hi I use either Nero, Photoshop Video Elements, or the freeware PSP Video 9 http://www.pspvideo9.com/ - any of these will let you convert various formats including .mov files - windows movie maker will also do the conversion for you I think. I can get a 700 mb Avi down to 70-80 mb for Ipod viewing so 14 mins of footage shouldn't be to bad. Simmo -
Hi I am looking into using print quotas in an effort to track costs usage etcand stop unwanted printing. A number of solutions do exist and we may just bite the bullitt and spend the cash, but I thought I would see if there were any cheaper alternatives to the established players - open source etc. We only have two colour lasers (HP 4600cn) and two B&W dells. We have a new canon photocopier(colour) and it's printer driver pulls users off the copier and uses a pin code system to allow both copying and printing - this has proved very effective and has cut our copier usage by 20% in this quarter! - I really would like to do the same with the HP's. Thanks for any input Simmo

I have been running the dual boot for about a week now and whilst it installs very smoothly I do have a number of issues, The wireless is pants - can't get a decent signal unless I am very near the WAP(works great when runnings OSX) - Can't download off the internet via IE6, havn't tried another browser yet. Occasional blue screen when running ULEAD(to see how it compared to my P4 with Video. Will try a rebulid next week, any problems from anyone else? Ta

Thanks for all the replies. Cost of moving to exchange is not an issue just don't have the hardware to run it on at the moment and for 3 users can't be justified. I will look at using a web based solution for now and see how they get on - they like the outlook calendar - never mind SJC

Looking for the best way to share an outlook calendar without exchange server. Have found a couple of paid solutions, are there any freeware ones about. Thanks

with a bit of scanning, a similar sized packing box and a couple of weights you might just fool her......................

most reports i have read seem to imply that desktop mactels will be behind the poratbles as the pentium m is to be the first pro being worked on to improve powerbooks power consumption. If true then plenty of life in existing apple desktops
