Cisco switch http enable/password change?

I have inherited a cisco network at my new school and I'm currently in the middle of setting up Cacti to monitor the switch traffic.

 

As part of that, I am enabling SNMP on each switch but have just hit a switch where the username/password I've been given doesn't allow me to log in via http.

 

It does allow me to log in via telnet though. I currently know pretty much nothing about ios commands as I moved here having been purely on a HP switched network at the last place.

 

So, could someone point me in the right direction here?

I already know the password - I can log in to telnet just fine, just not the web interface. I don't want to do resets etc...

Are you tried Level15 as the username, think it's something along those lines anyway.

Sounds like the web interface isn't enabled. Try the "ip http server" command to switch it on from an enable prompt? Have a look at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2/configfun/command/reference/frf005.pdf for some more commands that may be helpful.

 

If you've just inherited a Cisco network then you may also want to have a play with Cisco Network Assistant - Products & Services - Cisco Systems if you haven't seen it already. Cisco Network Assistant can be so much easier to use than the command line for quick changes

Cheers Soulfish - ip http authentication enable and ip http authentication local did the trick, in that linked document.

 

I don't think we can get that software, as the whole 'service contract' 'who owns what' thing is weird, due to the equipment being transferred from the old managed service provider to the school.
