Got to love the local butcher

*Humble pie alert*

 

So I went to Asda last night as it was the only shop open, and did a shop for a few days food - how cheap is Asda? AMAZING!

 

I bought a crown of duck for dinner and it was really nice and at only £7 it was really a good bargain!

 

They DO however have a lot of pretty horrible looking meat though that may be down to the amount left over at the end of a busy bank holiday but they also had some really nice, well butchered meat on offer too and it is really REALLY competitively priced though I pity what the farmers must make from their produce, how they can get 500g of strawberrys into a punnet for £1 I don't know, same for baby new potatoes....

I think I'd go for the Local butcher's produce over supermarket meat anyday. There's not many independent butchers left (in comparison to say 15 years ago), and the quality of the meat is better than that of the supermarkets - which I find has rather a lot of water content.... Take steak for instance; one from the butcher, one from asda which one shrinks the most when you cook it? and which one is redder?

Asda, because it's full of water and colourants, and junk that shouldn't be there.

 

Can't say I've tried many other supermarket meats, Asda put me off, and stuff like Venison, rabbit and wood-pidgeon are fairly easily available for me.

I have never had a shop at asda be cheap :s ive always found morrisons to be cheaper (living with three blokes, full shop around £180 in morrisons, always over £200 in ASDA, i also find asda pizzas/meat to be horrid in comparision to Morrisons)

 

anyway only been to the butchers a few times definately like there beef, sausages are lush Havnt tried the one near my flat will have to pop over there this weekend i think.
