Jambo_C Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Hi, Does anyone know of a way to set Internet Explorer 9 to either "save as" by default or save to a different location by default. At the moment the bar at the bottom just comes up as save and the files automatically go to the "download" folder. I can see some of the kids (and probably some staff!) just clicking save and then not having a clue where their files have gone. If you can't change it to default to "save as" I'd at least like to be able to change the default location so files go straight to Documents rather than Downloads. Is this possible via Group Policy? I've done a bit of Googling but haven't really found anything. Cheers, J.
steve Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 There is a setting in folder redirection for downloads in GPO but I found that didn't work. So I have a registry setting via GPP: HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default Download Directory = (My docs locations) REG_SZ 2
Jambo_C Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 I managed to get the redirection to work but it's still a completely seperate folder and could confuse them. The registry setting sounds promising, I'll have a look at that, could get it to default to their Documents folder. Cheers.
