OK, so this gets stranger. I swapped the nibs over and both pens work fine. I then swapped the nibs back and they still both work fine! It hadn't been working for a few weeks before I posted on here so I'm quite confused! I'll see how it is tomorrow. I'd already tried calibrating with the new pen and it was still dodgy. FYI the firmware is "V3.35 Build 2".

I have a very bizarre issue that is driving me a bit mad. I have a Promethean Activboard in school, quite an old one with the round white Promethean logo/light in the top left which uses the grey pens with the orange band and button. It is working perfectly fine but the teacher asked me for a new pen as hers is cracked and the end bit after the orange band keeps falling off. I have 10 brand new pens and none of them will work properly on this board, they're intermittent, for example you’ll be drawing a line and it’ll just stop. The new pens work fine on a couple of other boards that I’ve tested them on though. As far as I can tell the boards are the same. I've installed the latest drivers but the new pens just won't work properly on this board yet the old cracked and battered one works perfectly. Any help would be appreciated as I'm finding this a bit odd.

Hi, I've got a 2008 R2 server running Hyper-V, one of the virtual servers has for some reason got a huge AVHD file despite me never taking any snapshots. The VHD file is 300GB and the AVHD is 580GB. I've only got 270GB of free space on the Hyper-V server. Am I correct in thinking that if I turn the virtual machine off it'll attempt to merge the files but will not be able to as I've not enough space? I want to allocate some more space to my virtual machine so could do with merging it, how can I do this? I have a couple of 3TB USB Hard drives, is it possible to copy the VHD and AVHD over to one of those, change the file path in Hyper-V and let it merge on the USB drive? If I do this though how do I shut the virtual machine down without it starting to merge? Cheers.

I have O365 setup with an ADFS proxy and I have an issue where I sometimes get an 503 Service unavailable error when users try to access the login page. However, this isn't affecting everyone, I can be sat at one PC getting the error yet the PC right next to it will load the logon screen perfectly fine. I just had a student attempting to get on, I told him to log onto the next PC and it worked fine on there, this leads me to believe that it's the PC itself, yet when I just logged on to that PC myself it worked fine for me! I had a user yesterday who was getting the error on their whiteboard machine, whilst looking at it I successfully got to the logon screen on my phone and the class of students in the IT suite next door were happily using it! It's starting to really annoy me as I can't see anything obvious, nothing seems to point to it being either the PC or the user and there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers!

Uninstalling Flash didn't seem to do anything but I removed Activ Inspire and re-installed that and it's working again.

Hi, Thanks, I've not had chance to look at this yet but will have a look tomorrow. As far as I'm aware he says that there hasn't been a Flash update.

Hi, I have a user that has a number of flipcharts with embedded Flash files. These were working fine until a few days ago, nothing has changed as far as I'm aware but now the Flash parts are blank. They show up in the preview but as soon as the flipchart goes "live" they disappear. You can click on them and highlight them but it just shows a box around a blank area. This also happens if you import a Flash file into a brand new flipchart, as soon as it imports it just goes blank. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I hope this is in the right forum, I wasn't really sure where to put it. Our head wanted some digital signage setting up very cheaply, basically just wanting a TV connected to a laptop so I have done it using a ChromeCast, the laptop sits happily in the nice convenient cupboard opposite and just streams the slideshows etc over to the TV. It all works brilliantly apart from the laptop stops casting after a few hours (I think it's about 3 hours), once it stops casting if you try to recast it doesn't work and I have to shut the Chrome browser down and open it up again before it'll work. Once I do that it works fine again. Has anyone done anything similar or come across any similar issues? Cheers.

Hi, I've got a member of staff wanting to use Small Basic with his class. It runs fine and if a student tries to run a script they've written it works fine up until when they save it. As soon as they save it to their network drive it ceases to run, it just crashes out with a "Small Basic has stopped running" error. I've figured out that this is due to the program attempting to run an executable file which students aren't allowed to do from their network drive due to a group policy software restriction policy that was put in place to stop them downloading and running various unsavoury and timewasting things. Has anyone else come across this and come up with any kind of solution/way round it? I don't really want to remove the policy. Cheers.

Hi, There's already a similar thread to this but it's nearly a year old and I wondered if anything had come out since. I've been asked to research systems for recording lessons. I've come across IRIS Connect, Star Lesson and Lesson Recorder but I wondered if anyone knows of any alternatives. Thanks.

Exchange 2010 OWA issues in school but not externally
Jambo_C replied to Jambo_C's topic in Enterprise Software
Apologies for the delay! I've tried this and I'm still getting the problems. It's really annoying as out of school it's completely fine, I can't understand why! -

Sorry if this is a daft question but what exactly do you mean? Which settings in IIS do this? -
Exchange 2010 OWA issues in school but not externally

This just gives me a page cannot be displayed. - - - Updated - - - As far as I know there's nothing doing this. This has only recently started happening and nothing has changed that I can think of. -
Exchange 2010 OWA issues in school but not externally
Jambo_C replied to Jambo_C's topic in Enterprise Software
It's already in the trusted sites and is bypassing the proxy. I'm trying to access it using our external address, https://mail.xxxx.xxxx.sch.uk/owa which resolves to the external facing IP. -
Exchange 2010 OWA issues in school but not externally
Jambo_C replied to Jambo_C's topic in Enterprise Software
It's with IE11 but does it on earlier versions and also on Chrome I believe. Typically when I just did a test for screenshots I couldn't recreate some of the errors. I managed to get the following though. Error message whilst viewing contacts. Blank options -
I'm having issues with OWA within school. Mail and folders display correctly and people can send and receive OK but various things are playing up, I keep getting various error messages relating to the network connection being unavailable when users try to access options or add an attachment. If they manage to get to the options screen certain parts of the options don't display such as mail settings, we just get a blank area or it fails when trying to add an out of office reply for example. Users are also being repeatedly asked for their logon details. Outside of school it works perfectly, there are no issues whatsoever! Most people use Outlook 2010 within school which works fine but the students are using OWA and need it for their ICT lessons so this is becoming a bit of a problem as they can't do certain things. Has anyone come across anything like this before? Thanks.

It is IE11 that we're running but we've been running that a while and it's been OK up until the last few weeks.
-
I don't think so, I'm pretty sure all these have been shutdown cleanly, the kids are actually pretty good at doing that.
-
I'm still getting the issue I'm afraid. It seems to have improved slightly but it's not fixed. The errors don't appear as often but they're still appearing. With the verbose settings on it takes longest waiting for the user profile service.
-
It doesn't always take 10 minutes, the machines seem to vary, in fact the longest this time around has been about 8 minutes. After getting rid of the printers policy it seems to have improved slightly, it's still not as fast as it should be though and seems to spend a long time waiting for the user profile service.
-
Hi, cheers for that. I'd not come across the verbose setting before, very useful. I ended up setting it locally on one of the machines and it appears that it's something to do with the printers, at least that was the longest displayed thing. The only printers I had in GP were some set in GPP and all still exist. I've deleted them all though and the performance seems better on the machine I tested. I guess I'll see for definite after a reboot when the next class go in.

Thanks, does it matter which policy I enable this on? If I just enable it on the default domain policy will that show me everything?
-
Bumping an old thread because this problem has returned. It had gone and appeared to have fixed itself but now I'm getting the slow logons and the messages in event viewer again. Once more I've changed nothing, it appears to be doing it out of the blue.

I have two domains that are trusted. My Exchange 2010 server sits on my curriculum domain as most of my users are on this domain. I also have an admin domain. Each user has a mailbox and I have been able to get my admin users to access their own mailbox by converting the mailboxes to linked mailboxes and making the user on the admin domain the master account. However, I now need to set up some mailboxes that can be accessed by users on the admin domain going to "open" within Outlook from their own account. Exchange doesn't allow an account to be a master account on more than one mailbox so making it a linked mailbox is out of the question. I just need to add "full access permissions" to the account and be able to pick a user on the admin domain. Unfortunately this isn't possible. Does anyone know how I can achieve this? I hope that's clear and thanks in advance.

I've a number of students who have had new profiles created, once the new profile has been created their internet doesn't work. I've noticed that this is only happening on PCs with IE11 and I think it's to do with group policy not applying internet settings to IE11 correctly. I read that this now has to be done through Group Policy Preferences, however when I go to Group Policy Preferences and internet settings I go to new and the only options I get are IE 5,6,7 and 8. I have installed IE11 on the server but this hasn't made any difference. How do I get IE9 and above to display as an option here?
