Hawes29 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I have a strange issue on some computers accessing eclipse.net with i.e 8. When i go to the url the screen just goes black, but on other machines’ running XP and i.e 8 it works. I have compared all the settings and they seem to be the same. Any ideas Cheers Hawes29
happymeal Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 I've had a similiar problem this week, oddly enough! I'd upgraded from XP to W7, and the Librarian was unable to use Eclipse and had the same problem. Have you tried installing both Silverlight, .Net4, and installing the latest version of Eclipse? Once I'd done those she was able to use Eclipse.
MrPARRman Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 I also have this problem and have no idea what is causing it. I get the Silverlight loading screen then it just goes black. Tried a full reinstall of Eclipse and the problem still exists. Am at a utter loss as to how to get around it as it seems to be a WIN7 issue. Has anyone else resolved this? Silverlight and .Net4 reinstall has not resolved.
round2it Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 (edited) Wow this thread started in 2011 but the new user resurrected it so here is my 5p worth I had this and it was the windows authentificaton in the config tool that broke it for me. Changed from auto to windows. Silver light and dot net is essential. Ensure your 7 machines firewall is letting data pass too and from eclipse.net. I did a full install last week from server 2003 to 2012 Gotchas were When installing SQL ensure that full text search is installed for your instance used for mlseclipse if not you can not search in the front end (made the mistake of only adding it to the default instance (face palm) do a SQL dashboard report it tells you if it's installed or not Ensure iis. Setting is using dot net v2 for the eclipse website. Dot net 4 does not work well. If making changes to the settings in config or iis ensure you do an iis reset every time. In iis I turned off anonymous authentificaton also (probably not related) Hope this is some help. Edited August 13, 2013 by round2it 1
MrPARRman Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Aha - looks like that has done it. It was already on Windows Authentication but swapped out my Application pools .Net framework from 4.0 to 2.0 and it at last goes past the grey screen and loads up! :-D Tested on Windows 8 and 7 and both loading so much faster than our very old 2003 server. Thank you very much! :-D
round2it Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 your very welcome unfortunately some of my gotchas were because i did not read the manual. glad you got it sorted.
Cruiser_Scotland Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Just done the Silverlight update, have the black screen issue. Tried changing the IIS AppPool from .net 4 to .net 2, but then get a SQL error. Can anyone help?
