Dead Island is #1 on my list at the moment. If (as they market it) it sounds like a mix between Left4Dead / GTA and Deus Ex (upgrading your character) it should be amazing. I'd love a zombie game where you get full free roam. Dead Rising was so close but was time limited so you ended up having to rush places. Having a free roam zombie environment should be cracking if it really is as good as they say. Also the latest trailer was absolutely superb (the trailer plays backwards and is like a mini movie).

Deus Ex Human Revolution looks another great game. I enjoyed the previous two so hoping this should be just as good with quite a bit of replayability choosing different upgrades.

Aliens Colonial Marines is starting to sound like the new Duke Forever. It's had its release date put back about 4 times now, so as much as I'd love a realistic Alien game, I won't hold my breath (although the original AvP was great)

Unless there are plans for another Portal/Left4Dead/Half Life I don't think there is much more on the horizon for me to look forward to game wise. I know they said Portal was pretty much done, as the story arc has been done, so unless they changed it completely I don't see another. Plus they won't want to integrate it into HL.

A bit predictable for me...

- Battlefield 3, looks amazing and the only game I play online these days

- Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, only for the single player though, stopped enjoying MP with MW2 :(

- FIFA12 as per usual for season's new signings

- Mass Effect 3, ME2 blew me away so really looking forward to this

- Deus Ex: Human Revolution, annoying that it's a prequel rather than carrying on from the previous game but still great gameplay

- Gears of War 3 (how did I forget this one, only remembered after the post below!)

What all this does mean is that I need to build a new gaming PC as my current E8400 \ 8800GT is looking a bit elderly having seen the sysreqs for Battlefield 3 and suchlike... time for i5, oodles of RAM and a new nVidia GFX card, not looking forward to the bill for it though :p

There's meant to be one final Half Life game coming out at some point but who knows when, so many delays :(

Still having far too much fun in Cod MW1 and 2 to bother with any of the latest or upcoming versions.

I got fed up with CoD online once it became filled with snipers, campers and annoying kids that think they win the game on number of kills despite losing every objective (great lot of use they'd be in a war!)

Battlefield is a bit better but it's annoying that there's practically zero tactics or teamplay going on in the public games then the only other option is clans where it all gets a bit too serious...

I'd forgotten about the war games. To be honest they are all getting kind of the same now. Modern super power takes over X, attack and destroy and have a few chase sequences. I preferred the WW2 ones, especially the Brothers in Arms games where tactics actually came into it.

I also agree about online play. Even things like Left4Dead have it, you get people who just want to rush through the level alone and if you get attacked, oh well....tough.

I think online gaming went downhill after the original Counterstrike started to have hacks in it. The hacks got the kiddies interested and from then on they learnt that sniper rifle + microphone = total annoyance.

Just looking at my pre-order list on GAME.

Star Wars - The Old Republic

Battlefield 3

CoD - MW3

Elder Scrolls - Skyrim

Mass Effect 3

Really having a good long think about Dead Island as well, the trailer for it was the BEST I've ever seen from a game.

Really looking forward to Mass Effect 3 - loved the first two, got over 100 hours in them combined.

Also the New Tomb Raider looks pretty good, may give that a spin.

Of course the obligatory Half-Life 2 : Episode 3 - waiting 4 years and counting

Hmm it looks like Dead Island might be a bit hit and miss. From some previews it says each character has a sort of special powerup, for instance one guy gets so angry he can literally punch a zombies head off.

Now for a game that tries to shape itself around realism in the fact that you only find weapons in realistic locations (pistol on a guard, once ammo is out its useless) and create realistic weapons (like nails in a bat etc) for it to then go down the "you have super human abilities if you kill x number of zombies" is a bit annoying. why not just have it like GTA. you werent superhuman, you had no special abilities, just you and a gun and hopefully some skill.

my guess is it means you will end up meeting zombies that are the average zombie stumbler, up to ones that are mutated and you need to use abilities to kill them.

it just takes the shine off for me

i seriously feel a zombie game with no power ups, no "special" zombies, just zombies overrun an area sell like mad. sort of like left 4 dead. remove the special zombies, make the normal infected a bit slower (and remove the horde invasion) and it would play like the zombie movies. but the moment you add in zombies who can spontaneously explode, or zombies who are 100x more powerful and need 18 rockets to kill, it becomes just a game again and not something that can draw you in.

i'll probably still end up getting it, because the actual island looks amazing and free roam will still be good. but it will lose that added extra bit i think

Counter Strike: Global Operation

BF3 but not a chance I'll be able to play it on my current rig. :(

L4D2 Cold Stream DLC

Batman: Arkham City

Dead Island looks good. Really into zombie games ATM. :)

I'm looking forward to...

Hard Reset

Serious Sam 3: BFE

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Rage

Serious Sam 3 is what Duke Nukem Forever should have been like and the Blade Runner-esque 'Hard Reset' looks amazing. The best thing about these two games is that they are PC exclusives so they won't be ruined by being ported to/from consoles. :)

Battlefield 3!

Isn't anyone boycotting BF3 due to it not being on Steam? Origin sounds horrible.

Forgot about this! Also high up in my list of must haves! :)

Based on playing the Alpha, Origin really is awful! I hope EA backtrack and make BF3 available on Steam, then one day when I have a better rig, I can get it through there. These days, if I can buy a game in Steam rather then in a shop, I will. :)

The reason its not on steam is steam is taking an Apple approach, all sales must go through them for their cut and EA want to sell DLC direct as well. Direct2Drive etc will work fine but I will probably use origin myself although the client is dog slow right now.
