[sims] SIMS - Read only Columns in Marksheet Templates

Hi All,

 

when using templates for marksheets some columns are read only.

 

I have tried to untick the read only box but it doesnt do anything.

 

Any idea on how i go about geting it unticket for editing?

It's possible to create columns for data review only. If this was how yours was made, then ticking the box has no effect.

 

Check in the template, open the column and check the column type, it will say "data review" i reckon, and you need it to say "data entry".

 

You will need to make a new template with data entry columns. Both options are available when you click to add new columns.

 

Back in the day, i used to make all overview templates with data entry columns then manually tick them all to be read only. The benefit with that was that i could untick one quickly to do some editing, without having to go and search out the specific class marksheet which was editable.

I have re created the columns but made it for 'Data Entry' like you said.

@PhilNeal - if you're reading, is this really neccessary? Just makes editing templates that bit more time consuming if they've been setup this way with no apparent benefits, as anybody who can untick read-only, could just as easily add an editable column anyway!

 

Or am I just a moaner?

@PhilNeal - My moan is that the data review columns seem to serve no purpose other than to make editing templates more difficult... if you can untick the read only option, you can also add a new data entry column, so it doesn't appear to serve any purpose... it would be much more efficient if there were a check box when adding data entry columns to set them to read only (but to have the option to later make them editable again)... am I making sense? I feel like I'm rambling!

 

EDIT: by the way, it is only a *small* moan, I'm not here to tarnish SIMS reputation over a check box
