Sorry if this has been discussed but it has been bugging me for a while...

Trying to set up Exchange Activesync on my phone, here is what I enter:

email address: school email

server address: Exchange servers IP address

Domain: I have entered the domain the exchange server is on

username and password: The log on credentials I use to log onto my computer at work

I have also ticked the box for "This server requires an encrypted SSL connection"

once I hit next it says "Verifying account information"

Then I get "Failed to connect to the Exchange server. Please check Exchange server settings"

Any ideas?

Thank you

I've always installed the Exchange certificate on my phones with Activesync, definitely did it on the WinMo phones, think I did it on the Desire but can't remember 100%

Edit: just checked my memory card and I did install the cert so could be worth a try first...

I struggled for ages getting activesync working on my Desire with live@edu. Apps such as touchdown worked fine. In the end, I rooted the phone and ditched htc sense and exchange works fine. I've encountered quite a few people using htc phones who have struggled with exchange connections, and the problem always seemed to be linked to the way that sense deals with certificates.

Check activesync is working properly on that account using https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/

The usual problem in incorrect security permissions on the account, to fix go to Active Directory Users and Computer, View, tick Advanced Features. You will now get a security tab when you view the properties of a user account, go onto this and reset the permissions on the account with inherit permissions ticked.

1. What version of Exch are you using?

2. As suggested run https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ and post results.

3. Have you published External namespace, i.e for OWA? Does this work externally?

4. Check you IIS logs to see if the connection is actually hitting your Exch server, copy results of log and post/PM me, only the relevant section as htese logs may be massive.

Is your account a Domain / Enterprise Admin? If so take all administrative rights off your account, then try and set-up the sync with your phone, that should cure it and has done for me and some others, once its setup you can add all your admin rights back again.
