[acs] Datamanager deleted files accidently

Hello....Just trying to help our datamanager........

 

She accidently deleted a class/set file a week ago and asked for my help:confused:

 

 

I have a complete backup copy(bkf) of the cmis before she done the damage.

 

Is there any way of getting that data that she deleted back off the backup (bkf) file without needed to purchase a bkf retrieval program

Restoring a backup of an MIS is usually not an option. It's unlikely you can retrieve individual files as they may be obscured in the db.

Best option is to restore to a test server setup if possible then export the data you need and import to your live system.

@john or one of the other CMIS experts will know for sure.

A BKF? A bdb file comes out of Facility, and yes there's a way you could do that depending on circumstance, or a SQL backup being a BAK or BK yes also, in a different manner.

If it's a BKF you'll have to let me know what you've used to back it up - PM me if you want further help.

Exactly what has been deleted? You can do alot of damage if you attempt to restore a cmis backup in single table mode without knowing what you are doing.

 

I would contact support, and remember you could create a test database from the backup and recreate the data in the live system by manually copying the info across.

I did a full system and files backup of the server using Microsoft Backup Utility that is saved as a 35 gig .bkf file.

 

The idea of using it to restore another test machine sounds good.

Ah, if that had been a Serco backup then building a new system would be easy. I suspect you are running SQL server so it would be a case of extracting the SQL files and reattaching them to a SQL express instance.

 

I havent done this do would request the help of otherrs.

Yeh I've PM'd John.

I'm trying to establish first what it is that's been deleted. This sounds like a lot of work to get the file / tables back, if the thing thats been deleted only takes a few minutes.

Equally it could be a scheduler file in which case Rob we're both talking rubbish when we say restore into a test environment lol.

 

@brickwall53 - we wer're talking about restoring the sql backups or facility backups into a test environment rather than the entire 35gb file as a whole machine.
