Hi

At the moment only I (that I am aware of) access my emails using my mobile, but the new headteacher wishes to do it as well. Advice from county is to have a Mobile device AUP or similar in school.

Does anyone else have such a document?

Just wondering - did they explain what the difference is accessing school e-mails via a PC and their mobile phone?

Rather than create a whole policy it may just be worth adding the use of mobile phones for e-mail use to your normal staff AUP.

That's exactly what we have done by adding a few sentences covering mobile phones accessing our email system. However contemplating expanding that to cover mobiles accessing the Internet via the schools wireless network, so we may look at defining a mobile device specific policy also.

Exchange Server now has some very powerful corporate level security capabilities - ability to remote wipe lost mobile phones etc... Not that I can see many schools going that far. Its pretty common tho for school staff to access their work email on their own phones or ones provided by schools (for SMT only of course!) so some sensible precutions need to be in place.

I would be worried about email file attachments falling into the wrong hands. So maybe an insistance that mobile phone screens are time out locked with a four digit PIN to unlock would help???

Cheers all
