Dos_Box Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I'm on the train and the net connection is a bit flaky so I'll be brief. Has anyone seen or used Lightworks before? Lightworks It looks pretty impressive even if it is in beta still (although not for much longer I think), but I can't take a better look until later on. So if anyone wants to install it and have a quick go please let us know what you think!
TechMonkey Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I looked at this for a opensource alternative to MovieMaker. Couldn't spend much time on it but IMO it is very full on. I'm not sure how most kids would get on with let alone staff. It is a proper, RTFM piece of work. That is no bad thing & I like it and it looks a good bit of software but for the avid enthusiast, maybe the AS Media Studies class or for a Uni project. When you see the list of films produced on it you get a feel for the level it is working at.
Marci Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Looks like your standard linear video editor... screenies all llook similar to Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro. At a guess anyone used to Garageband / Cubase and other linear media editors will get on with it just fine. Will download it and have a looksee at what it's capable of...
plexer Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 When you run it it does ask you to select a keyboard layout and gives you options from other editors. It installed ok on multipoint server 2011 complained about the ram would like 1GB+ but still ran. Not done anymore with it yet. Ben

Struggling here and forums say it is a no go. it just errors with "no material drives attached to system" right click 'run as admin' works Have changed permissions for 'everyone' on c:\materials 'all users\documents\lightworks' and programfiles\lightworks any help appreciated
HarryMonkey Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Has anyone had any joy downloading the Matrox VFW Codecs? Whenever I try from tge link on the Lightworks site Matrox Video - Support - Matrox VFW Software Codecs Downloads I get an error saying that anonymous logins are not allowed.
