aerospacemango Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Hi all..... Just after a bit of advice.... I recently bought an original xbox, with a bunch of games, for £10 off a mate (Good deal, methinks!) However, when it comes to connecting to xbox live, I can get through to t'internet, but Live is not connecting. Did they close down Live to the original xbox, or am I missing a trick here? (It has picked up an IP, so I know it can see out!) Any advice is gratefully received!!!
JJonas Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 (edited) I believe it was turned off for the original Xbox a while back. edit found this http://majornelson.com/2010/02/05/xbox-live-being-discontinued-for-original-xbox-consoles-and-games/ but you may be able to use a different service like Xlink Kai to connect to other gamers more info can be found here http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showforum=113 Edited June 20, 2011 by JJonas 1
aerospacemango Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 Thanks JJ....I was just reading that Major Nelson piece....and all the comments after!
JJonas Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 It makes a good media centre. Thats what I am using my old xbox for.
sted Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 by media centre do you mean an extender to win7 or a standalone box?
JJonas Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Just a stand alone box. Got Xbox Media Centre on it, quite an old version now but it works. Plays most video formats found on the web and DVD's as well.
CHR1S Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 XBMC is no longer supported on Xbox... you could find an old build out here tho
mats Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 +1 for xbmc. Softmod it, stick a bigger drive in, rip dvds, copy games to the drive for faster loads (and no lost discs). All the howtos were on t'web, problem comes when pages get old and disappear.
