All-in-ones. Anything good out there at the moment

It's coming to that time of year where I need to replace a decent number of computers, and most of the one's being replaced are old RM all-in-ones.

So I'm trying to decide whether we should buy more all-in-ones or go for desktop and monitor replacements.

 

Perhaps someone can sway me here?

 

Have you bought any all-in-ones recently and like them?

Lenovos are nice, we have 85 A70zs.

 

Had 3 break in a year (2 from misuse) one went fault.

Recently purchased some Stone All-in-Ones and I'm/we're very happy with them. Having said that they are replacing nine-year-old RM 2200s and CRTs so they were hardly going to be worse.

The issue I find with all-in-one machines is they can be a pain once the warranty has run out. For example, with our RM ones we have 3 year warranties, and now they have run out we are getting problems left, right, and centre. If a monitor fails it can be a pain to sort (and we've had a few fail recently)

We had some Lenovo A70z units installed at the beginning of the year, they seem decent enough.

 

Normally I am not a huge fan of AIO units but space constraints made it a sensible choice on this occasion.

I've just put in a requisition order for 34 Viglen Omnino 4 AIO machines.

 

The background is that we are doing a Standard Room Build, and these machines will be coupled with Smartboards and speakers. The smartboards have short throw Hitachi projectors.

 

All we wanted were machines that would be able to run the normal stuff, and nothing too fancy.

 

Viglen came in significantly cheaper than RM and Dell, so much so, that we were able to upgrade the processor and RAM and STILL be under the other quotes.

 

It IS worth looking around, but decide on what you're using them for, so you have an idea of the configuration that you'll be after.

I believe the new RM One (value), has a standard monitor fitted that can be easily changed.

 

I had a Stone AIO on eval and the staff liked it so much I bought it and will be looking at purchasing more at some point, I like the robustness of both the RM One and the Stone AIO for the classroom.

I suppose I should also qualify my statement by saying.................

 

I'll be interested to see them when they turn up, because we didn't have an evaluation. But, as we've just had a Viglen desktop sent through for eval, I'd hope the build quality would be just as good.

It's not quite a true all in one, but we've got loads of HP 7600, 7700, 7800 & 7900 (the current model is the imaginatively named 8000) ultra slims with integrated work stand. Basically the base unit attaches to the back of the screen.

You can't just stick new innards in the RMs?

We had some Dell Optiplex 160's that are like that.........

 

Our students think nothing of pulling them off the stand and dropping them on desks, floors, etc etc etc!
