To arrive at that conclusion I guess you either: a) are best mates with him, and therefore knows he eats a lot of pies b) viewed him on the TV at an earlier point at which time he was eating a pie 2
wizzard Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Not only the guy who fell over, but there was also the couple of times a yellow flag went up and nobody knew why - even the commentators were saying "we've got a yellow flag down in 1 & 2, and we have no idea why, we can't see anything to cause it" One of the yellow flags I think was for Di Resta's car in one of the barriers, they even cut to his car and David Coulthard didn't even notice because he was busy talking.

I even enjoyed the red flag hour and a half for some reason!! and if the race wasn't entertaining enough we even had a marshall breakdancing on the track!! Is it wrong that I think it would of been better if Vettel had come off the track and not got back on at all during the final lap? Would of closed the gap in the championship a bit. Would of liked to see more of Hamilton. Well done Button! AWESOME!

It's a race...not a sunday morning drive. If it's not safe to race, delay the race till it is and then let them 'race' Also i thought those stewards who nearly got hit were an embarassment to the race. What were they thinking!?? They should of never been in the middle of the track when cars were still spread out like that. That could of ended very nasty for the steward and not a nice experience for the racing drivers. Glad to see JB win, Glad to see Vet not win ( i was getting bored of him winning all )
mattx Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Watched it from start to finish - only moving to pour my wine and facebook about how crap the marshals were. I did jump up and down though when Vettel spun off in delight. Brundle was brilliant at keeping us entertained during the wet bits.....

I will admit, each time JB gained a place in that to 10 I was shouting, it became louder and louder once he had Webber and Schumacher... when Vettel went off... think I almost lost my voice.

The drivers also are the ones down there and standing water has always been an issue and for F1 cars they just simply can't handle it. It's like asking a fighter pilot to fly very slow through a storm.
teejay Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 The main problem is that as teams are not allowed to change the fundamental setup of the car from the start of qualifying, the cars were in dry setup with some such as McLaren opting for a slightly compromised setup as wet weather was forecast. In dry weather setup, they will run much lower to the ground and have quite a different overall car setup to a wet setup, which makes it dangerous for them to run in wet weather due to aquaplaning.

These vehicles are not a suped up Impreza that you'd throw around a Major Fast Food Chain car park. They are highly tuned bits of machinery that need a life support machine to stay alive, and as has been pointed out, the brakes are like wet cardboard when the heat is not in them. Everyone has agreed that the race was a spectacular event, even if the safety car was out for a good number of laps. So by allowing them to race without the SC the lives of those drivers are put at further risk for no apparent benefit.

Did you not see the concentration on their faces, as they took a run up with a broomstick in the hope that this would somehow make the water vanish? I kneel before their mystical powers and wizardry. We've had the Wally with the Brolly, now we have the Bafoon with the Broom. :-)
