vikpaw Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Hmm, not worth it for only one user, which luckily is only me! There is a thread on SupportNet that says someone in High Wycombe had their case sent to the escalation team. A KB was referenced, but i couldn't find it. Just logged my case.
Stuart_C Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) It would seem this is affecting a number of people as there is a VERY similar topic on supportnet. I too have this issue and a call with Capita who are "investigating". It's affected two people, me and one other. I personally wonder if it's to do with the Detention widget as we both have that one on but no-one else does (as far as I know). It's a wild stab in the dark and I'm waiting with bated breath for an answer. @Vik, I've posted you a direct linky but as it just says "Capita are investigating" it's not that exciting. Steve21 Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 We've had this today too, Only affecting two users. Dropping and readding their permissions "seems" to have fixed it. Not sure what its linked to, but meh Its working!!! Steve
Rawns Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 We have had a school log a call with us about the exact same error too!
vikpaw Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I suggested dropping a permission and tried it just now but it didn't work. Did you remove all permission groups? I can't be bothered to do it now, it will take ages, as i'm still on v7.138 - old school sysman

SQLCMD -S %COMPUTERNAME%\SIMS2008 -d sims -Q "exec sims.db_p_install" SQLCMD -S %COMPUTERNAME%\SIMS2008 -d sims -Q "exec sims.db_p_grant"
Steve21 Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 In the end our SIMS manager just dropped all permissions/groups. Re-adding them "every one" and it still worked... Capita Logic hey hey! Blatently they broke something! Steve

Sivadam Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) It is defo to do with the Detention panel. I have the issue too and also raised a Case with Capita Support. I have referred them to the thread on SupportNet. Anybody tried setting up a new Detention Session for the New Year? That may even resolve it. I can't try that until next week as the servers are down for building works! Edited September 1, 2011 by Sivadam
Rawns Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Where is the thread on SupportNet? I can't see it anywhere.
PhilNeal Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Sorry people there is a fault. We're working on a patch and I'll get a news item posted ASAP.
vikpaw Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Where is the thread on SupportNet? I can't see it anywhere. In the forums, topic id 32901 - under SIMS Core System. cheers @PhilNeal
vikpaw Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 This went up on SupportNet yesterday, so it could be a lot more widespread once users get back on the system, fortunately it's only affecting the display of widgets so nothing mission critical. Home Page Configuration Dear Colleagues Extensive analysis has taken place today and whilst initially, due to the type of users that have reported not being able to view or configure the home page, was associated with super-users. The cause has now been isolated to users who have configured the view cycle in widgets to previous week or fortnight. As reported earlier with the exception of the home page users can continue to access SIMS functionality. We are working on a solution and will update this item as soon as possible. Looking at a user that is not affected, on the cycle part of the widget, it doesn't even list the previous week or previous fortnight options anymore, so i doubt it will be a simple fix, at least not one that is possible without a patch, but we shall see.
lynne_pattison Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 Hi Vik, yes my problem is resolved. Not quite sure how - we tried everything we could think of, and one morning I came in and my Homepage displayed ok, and I have had no problems with it since. Lynne
Sivadam Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 I have had a request for a copy of our dataset because the proposed fix needs wider testing/investigation.
vikpaw Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 They asked permission to use my dataset too, so i'm guessing the patch they had didn't fully pass on their test systems. It's odd, because you can't edit the homepage panels, so it can't just be that the date range coding is funny for certain panels or date range types.
PhilNeal Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 The work for this issue is now complete and is about to be checked into the Autumn 2011 build. In the meantime we are making the patch available immediately to all known affected customers and all LAs 1

CatherineMay Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Hi, My authority SIMS help desk say the problem is affecting superusers and a patch is on the way.
Rawns Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 REF: KB 112649 Patch 16163 Will try it tomorrow. Just waiting to confirm that it works on 7.138 as well as 7.140. @vikpaw - This does work on spring database. Applied to a school last night running 7.138 and it's fixed the issue. 1
vikpaw Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Only managed to run it just now. SOLUS crashed mid download, and there were around 10 patches there and summer upgrade. So requested it by email, which was much easier. Applied in seconds to 7.138, after the backup of course! Worked a treat. The only panel i had that seems to have been the culprit was the All Detention Sessions Scheduled one, configured to show previous fortnight. All the others were set to Year to Date, which was working fine.
