DJ-1701 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Thanks very much for sharing a brilliant resource. Thanks really go to @Boredguy, he was the one that thought it would be a good idea to have this ability in the first place. I just made it as I am not allowed to be bored, that's his handle .

DJ-1701 Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 I've decided to stick the latest version of the powershell script in my Edugeek blog for easier editing. Shortcut deployment script - Blogs - EduGeek.net
matt40k Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Should put it on Github or at least create Gist - https://gist.github.com/ Least then people can grab the latest version and see any changes 1

matt40k Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Haha - Was just about to reply saying you don't need to register to use Gist... Here you go anyway: https://gist.github.com/matt40k/8fad215a0e34670aaf3b59e012e79fd6 C'N'P for the win!! 1
robertcladner55 Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Amazing a good deal of beneficial information!
Squelch Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 I don't miss CC3 or CC4 one bit I certainly don't miss the 50 bazillion services running on every device
tdk1069 Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 Quick Question, How are people running the StartMenu.ps1 ? Logon script, start up script? I've tried both and can't get it to work (either no access to the share, or no access to the programdata folder)
Boredguy Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 these days we run it as a hourly task via SCCM as the location for the shortcuts are accessible to the system account (and so is programdata), but we used to run it as a logon script
tdk1069 Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 Thanks muchly. I quite literally got it working by making the share available to System. Was way over thinking it. Do like the SCCM idea tho! thanks
Boredguy Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 by running it via SCCM as an hourly task, it means if we deploy more applications out while the user is on the PC, there is a chance of the shortcut appearing without them logging off, and it also removes another step from the login so doesn't slow it down.
