SHimmer45 Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 anyone had any luck with editing or creating any of the default SLG themes provided by there LEA's? as i would like to change colours to bring the gateway into line with the colour of the website and existing moodle VLE.
CAM Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I worked with the LEA to make their themes for SLG. Set yourself plenty of time aside and ensure you have good knowledge of CSS before you start. The tools I used were notepad++ to edit, IE8 to view the pages and it's developer tools to identify which CSS entry applies to which element on the page. And it's a total maze. Best starter point is Heather Soloman's blog at Heather Solomon - MVP, WSS - SharePoint 2007 Branding and Design

You can see the results quicker by loading up SharePoint Designer and opening the active theme file (it'll be in the site folder structure, under _layouts/themes if I remember correctly, and named with the first few letters of the theme name plus a string of numbers). Then you can see any modifications instantly with a reload of the page (not refresh) rather than having to do an iisreset each time. vikpaw Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 If you get desperate and or run out of time, Capita were offering to customise your theme/look/feel for a tidy little fee a while back.
SHimmer45 Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 i dont believe i have access to the layouts folder to actually drop anything into it, looks like i will be contacting capita/LEA to see what they can offer.

If you are 'Hosted' you won't have access to the folders, I do believe there is nothing to stop you developing a theme outside the SLG and then have Capita upload/install it for you.
PhilNeal Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 We do provide this for hosted schools so it is possible - I'd say essential really to get the school customised look.
