Advice needed: Posting a bike

I'm going to put a bike for sale on ebay. Bikes aren't the easiest thing in the world to post, so I got it all boxed up (16.5kg, 140x75x22cm) and looking for some quotes.

 

Went to parce2go and got some quotes from fairly reasonable (£25-ish) to crazy £60.

 

I found this from another forum:

How on earth do these work? How can they undercut the quotes from the delivery companies themselves? Furthermore, has anyone used them and are they to be trusted?

By bike do you mean a motor bike or a push bike? I've sold push bikes on ebay and usualy dismantle most of the bike, wheels handlebars, forks etc so its easier to send.

I sold my bike a couple of years ago on eBay.. can't remember how much I sent it for... I *think* I used parcel2go for about £25, I went to Halfords and asked them if they had a old bike box I could use (they took a brand new bike out of a box for me and gave me the box... nice men) and packed it with tape and bubble wrap in the box... just turned the handlebars sideways.

With advances in modern technology you could email it. I mean, for example there's that weight loss advert on the tv at the moment and the lady says she's losing weight online - by that I think she means she's emailing her fat to a starving kid in Africa or somewhere....

you could send it at the post office express48 for £26 insured for £150 or if your feeling brave you could send it standard parcel at the post office for £15.86 insured for £46 but you can up the insurance on that I think its £1 for every extra £50 required. I've sent loads of big stuff standard parcel with no problems.

I've used parcelfarce to send bikes - it's even possible to get them to collect the item.

Well, I've set aside 20 quid for postage, so I might have painted myself into a bit of a corner. This rules out Royal Mail and most of the regular channels, so it's going to be Shiply or one of the ebay delivery resellers.
