Kyocera Copiers

We have been offered a TASKalfa 520i as an alternative to a Ricoh MP6001, its slightly lower PPM 52 to the 60 of MP6001 and lower scan resolution 600/1200 but its £3.5k cheaper over 5 years.

 

Anyone got any experience with Kyocera copiers?

Personally I don't rate them, I had 2 of the older ones before the TaskAlfa but wasn't keen on them, to be honest Kyocera I would avoid full stop.

 

I know some places it is all they use without a problem, suppose its if you get the bad ones or not!!

were in the process of renewing our photocopier contract and have been quoted for the 500ci however Toshiba have made it hard not to keep the current machines by offering them at a really low price for the next two years

 

I have been told, albeit by Toshiba that Kyocera machines are the budget end of the market and that there is a difference of about £4k when purchasing comparable base models.

One of my schools has an TASKalfa 520i it is the worst photocopier I have ever come across, its slow, the user interface is rubbish, temperamental, the office staff cant stand it, took 10 minutes yesterday to decide it was out of tonner.

Thanks for your feedback guys, seems to reinforce what I had already heard. Shame, £3500 is a huge saving, but you get what you pay for!

I've had 3 Kyocera copiers at an old job, all 3 were MASSIVE bags of spanners! The copier firm who supplied them originally was bought out and there new owners couldn't keep enough engineers on-site to keep them repaired and working in a busy school (one was the print room, the other two were in staff rooms) so they swapped them for 2nd user Toshiba's instead at there expense (we owned the Kyoceras!), they were got as they were very cheap but its simple buy cheap buy twice, thankfully our big volume of copies and my negotiations got us the refurbished kit instead which were bullet proof and much better quality and kit.

 

As we said at the time clearly in Kyoceras terms they need to keep making ceramics and not copiers.

I have kyocera 2550 machines and they are working fine.
