Hello all

I don't post much but thought I would share this to see what is replied.

I passed my AD 2008 exam yesterday. Chuffed is not the word.

Yeah loads, I have only done XP, Supporting XP and this AD08 one, but, have to start somewhere.

I am currently doing a Computer Network Managemnet degree at uni and the modules are the MCITP ciric, so I have yet to learn implementing AD and network infrastructure. Along with the four CCNA parts.

Love it.

Am I right in thinking the 70-640 has been updated to include Windows 2008 R2?

Yes, although none of the training materials have been updated yet to reflect R2 so plenty of labbing required!

Crap :( Are there major differences in terms of what might be asked on the exam? I've got the Enterprise Administrator book set (which includes 70-640) and don't want to continue swatting up if things are too different. Does anybody know of a book / site that provides just the new pieces of information? Cheers

This is from the horses mouth. Release dates are kind of late for a lot of people who are already studying though.

My advice would be to lab EVERYTHING in R2, some changes to diaglog boxes when asked questions etc etc, some exam questions reference to R2 Schema changes like AD restore etc etc.

have a look on here

70-640 Resources - TechExams.net IT Certification Forums

^^ has some links to books that you can get with R2 Content, personally i bought, http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Windows-Administration-Instant-Reference/dp/0470525398/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1285124525&sr=1-3&tag=vglnk-c774-20

have a look down towards the bottom of the thread and the R2 content additions are added

hope this helps

Awesome well done I am sitting 70-640 with Firebrand this afternoon.

Their courseware has been updated for R2 so that's good.

I am bricking it atm.

I went on a training course which included all the lab work and the textbooks, but I need to do the exam.

The course was 10215A, how do I find out about what exam it is to do, and where abouts do I do the exam. Is it an online thing? Never done any MS stuff before.

Hi

You can test at any prometric centre. Go to their site and schedule the exam.

As for the course code. Check on MSFT learining site and will list this course.

darn... wish I could get some new vendor certs under my belt - fancied the MCITP at OU but since wifeys pregnant I wont have time!!! not until next year anyway - I want to work upto the MCSE, I did the old CCNA 3 but didnt pass the exam due to the exam being for 4 and not 3 and since 3 has been discontinued now I haven't had chance to do the new course nor can I afford it.

Sorry to be a thread necro, but I'm about to start studying towards a degree with the OU, and one of my modules provides all the training needed to sit the 70-640 and the 70-642. I've noticed a few of you mentioning that you need to sit 3 exams - what is the third, and what is the advantage to sitting it?
