witch Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 I am the proud owner of an HTC Desire and I love it except that I cannot work out how or if I can use one of my 'ringtones' for the text message notification. I managed to import my special ringtones for various people and have set those up appropriately, but they don't appear in the list of message tones - can anyone help? How can I have a phone that doesnt alert me to messages by sounding the Star Trek communicator?

rad Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Great thread as I too got a desire yesterday. First q, if I am connected to wifi, when downloading apps does it use this by default or do I have to change it somewhere.
witch Posted April 16, 2011 Author Report Posted April 16, 2011 If it is using the wifi then the wifi icon appears, AFAIK

If you've a wifi connection then all traffic flows through that by default - no need to change anything elsewhere
tech_guy Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 I love my HTC Desire although the LG weren't too impressed as Lady Gaga's Born This Way started blaring out mid-meeting as I'd forgotten to mute the phone and it was set as the ringtone.... ;-)
tommej Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Do they let people use http proxies with the HTC desire yet?
Domino Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Do they let people use http proxies with the HTC desire yet? Android still doesn't officially have a proxy option. However various custom ROMs and apps are available with Proxy support.
JJonas Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Do they let people use http proxies with the HTC desire yet? I think you can do it with the stock rom if you are rooted. also Opera browser has authenticated proxy support on non rooted phones.
