I need to disable Standy Mode when the user closes the lid of a laptop

(I have 120 to do) Ive tired powercfg but it doesnt seam to want to change this option, importing exporting the reg keys in powercfg didnt work either.

Does anyone have any ideas???

(why?? kids arent shutting the laptops down properly just closing the lids, and the wireless doesnt seam to want to work when coming out of sleep mode)

Computer configuration\Administrative Templates\system\Power Management\sleep settings (or close to that, sleepy)

It's called something like "allow standby mode" disable it.

Only issue is from your original post, you realise if they close lids, nothing will happen? So they still need to learn to log off properly :p

You can either start using the new Group Policy Preferences (just require 1 Windows 7/2008 machine to manage the Group Policies on).

Then you can set the required Power Options / Schemes under:

[Preferences] > [Control Panel Settings] > [Power Options]

or you can permanently remove the standby function by adding the following registry entry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ACPI\Parameters]

"Attributes"=dword:00000070

NB

It does say Services but shows up as Servi es for some reason!
