Liam Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Pupils decide they want to delete the my computer icon meaning we have to get it back for them. Is there a gp setting that can disable this?
Geoff Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 User Settings -> Admin Templates -> Desktop -> Remove My Computer Icon = Disabled
6Foot2 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 They don't have it at all here. Why would they need it at your school? Just give them shortcuts to MyDocuments and perhaps Recycle Bin and Internet explorer on the desktop. Everything else they can get from shortcuts in the Start Menu.

What about any other mapped drives such as the common area? Thats more icons needed And pupils USB Drives? Not having the icon here would mean a more cluttered desktop and pupils moaning
EvLPhenom Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I agree with Sidewinder...if wer had no My Computer icon here there would be tons of shortcuts on the desktop, for the kids to access shared areas and removeable drives and what not.
webman Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Just put all shortcuts on the Start Menu and do away with Desktop ones?
Liam Posted May 8, 2007 Author Posted May 8, 2007 Geoff is that an RM network? Or is this a windows 2003 network?
Liam Posted May 8, 2007 Author Posted May 8, 2007 Never mind my last reply, i have found this now and it is already disbaled. This suggests that there is no easy solution to this. Thanks all for your help here. I will stick to what we have
