ahhh, got it...

Anyone see that new one they're advertising?

I've got it but not had a play as of yet. Its free if you register to promeatheanplanet I think.

Yes I had a play with it but unless I’m missing something it seems a beta version as the proxy setting are not copied from the users profile meaning each user need to enter them manually.

Guys I downloaded the MSI on the site.

Its VERY easy to get it to deploy for me so far.

Just create a transform with the following properties (this list will be revised ad-hock):

COMPANYNAME = {your company name}

PIDKEY = {the serial for version 2 or 3 WITHOUT "-" or spaces}

ACTIVSTUDIO3 = {UNC OF SHARED RESOURCES DIRECTORY}

RebootYesNo = No

NOTE: This must be a unc as using a mapped drive causes a error (as the installing account SYSTEM does not have the mapped drive. You can change this though later or I can hack out the check if you need it.

Then /qn (silent install) works fine.

If you have the EXE rather then the MSI then try getting:

http://www.edugeek.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=7291

Right click the EXE and click Uniextract and then use the second option. It will also extract Data1.cab files and pretty much most things.

If you dont want that tool then run the exe and wait to the first "next" button dialog appears. Then browse to YOUR temp folder under:

documents and settings\{username}\local\temp (I think).

You should have a newly created MSI in there, just copy it and cancel the installation.

I will summarise this guide later if necessary in a new post for all to use.

Cheers

ActivStudio is soooo 2008. It's all about Inspire Editon these days, which personally, I think is a good upgrade. It takes a lot of the annoyances out of the software - the handwriting recognition is almost as good as smart. It's free for existing users this year.

It comes in an MSI that works, a little MST generator to sort out the transform and a little tool that will stick in the serial number for you.

Lovely. Well done Promethean.

Were can I get the tool from that puts the serial number in for you? I didn't think this part was possible unless you put the serial in the MST yourself :confused:

When you run the download, select Network install. This will extract all of the MSIs to a folder. In the ActivInspire folder (the msi for the main software) in the folder with the MSI run asserialnumbervalidator.exe and enter your details. This creates ".inspire_license.xml" in the same folder.

ASTransGen.exe will make a MST file for you to customize your install path and shared resources directory. (not sure why they didn't use that tool for the serial number, but hey).

Once I had figured that it was 'as easy as that' it took about 10 minutes!
