Boot disc to reset local passwords, ERD for Windows 7?

Hi,

 

For resetting passwords on anything older than Windows 7 i use ERD / Winternals. Its just a boot disc.

 

Does anyone know of any i can use on Windows 7 ERD doesnt seem to work please?

 

Also i would like something that has a system restore feature, I have used this in ERD with windows XP when the OS wont boot.

 

Anyway if anyone knows anything please

DaRT is part of the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack, I belive you should be able to get in though the Microsoft Volume Licensing site, i use it all the time to fix computers.

You can also download a copy if you have a TechNet subscription (for evaluation use in a non-production environment only though).

 

Make sure you are properly licensed to use it, since it isn't free.

I use DaRT, latest version works on Win7/8/2012

The boot image also works from a WDS server so you can PXE boot into it. Also have it on an SSD USB Zalman which is handy.

I tried that a few times and it never worked, said it had reset the password and tried the new password whether blank / or a typed password etc. Now always use either trinity rescue kit bootable cd or the relevant orphcrack cd ( for xp or vista / 7 )

It should if you run chntpw from within a Linux boot disc like Kali, Parted Magic or SystemRescueCD. e.g.

I think that's because the ISO on their website doesn't support UEFI-based PCs or Secure Boot. It was last updated in early 2014.

DaRT would be my first choice too since it's 'free' for everyone with an EES agreement.

Thanks for the add up. I disabled secure boot and use legacy boot instead. it works now.
