BBC News - Haulage magnate Edward Stobart dies, aged 56

I never got into or saw the fascination with the Stobart Fan Club and lorry spotting, but he did seem like a genuinely nice guy and I have never heard anyone say a bad word about him.

Having used to work in haulage Eddie Stobart is the one if not the biggest haulage company in the UK. They recently had a documentary on TV and it made interesting watching.

 

If I quit IT and went back to haulage I would certainly be prepared to travel to work for them. They have a very good and robust setup but they have the money to support it. The place I worked for went under last week due to rising costs.

 

Sad to hear he has died though.

RIP sir. He was a genius in my eyes, or imaginative and lucky. But whatever it was, he did a fab job of it.

not a pistonhead but always keep a lookout for Stobart trucks when on the motorway (stemming from a childhood game when we kids used to compete for who spotted the most VW Beetles and VW campervans when driving in Dublin).
