Hi All,

Have been asked by senior member of staff if I could look into a type of security screen which will stop people looking at their screen when stood at the side of computer. I have invested in so called privacy screens which fit on the front but in reality they don't work well enough.

Was just wondering what other people use and where they obtained it from?

Thanks in Advance :D

What are they wanting to prevent someone seeing?

If someone comes in who's not authorised to read their screen surely they should lock their computer, deal with the visitor, then unlock and carry on?

@plexer:

Confidential data which only certain people have access to.

Yes I agree with you on that but what this member of staff has stated is that certain members of staff are just walking in without giving them enough time to lock their screen and therefore are able to see what they are on with.

I know this should be a case of staff knocking before they are asked to come in but as you well know certain staff are above that and will interrupt meetings etc just by walking in without knocking.

I am just in the process of looking at the moment. :D

I have tried these, actually bought 3 of them but the users said they were a load of c**p.

Not being ungrateful but I was looking for something which was more box like and came out from the sides of the TFT.

Never used them, nice to know they don't work :-)

How about some tape, thin MDF/cardboard, a saw/stanley knife. Seriously.

I'll make you one for a fiver less. :-)

The 3M(I think both are) privacy filters our head and secretary use seem to work well, unless your dead on to the screen and at the right height you can't make out much without making it obvious your trying to see whats on the screen.

Had some at one of my schools years ago. They went on the computers in Reception to stop anyone coming in the view the screen.

It was like a film, and they worked well. For the life of me i cant remember the name. It might be 3M but im not 100%

Not a screen filter as such but as your using W7 Bossman how about just moving your mouse to the bottom right corner of the screen and leaving it there and voilla all hidden job done :) Works great when I'm doing stuff and need to hide it.

I recommend 3M ones, they are a pain when working with colleagues, always have to get them to take them off so I can see what they are trying to show me. we have them for various laptops.
