In tribute of today, only Irish related bands will be played on my iPod today (with Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys at the top of the play list). And I'll sink a couple of pints of the black stuff later too.

Looking in pub windows this morning on the way to work, they all have banners, Irish flags, 4 leaf clovers etc. Most of them do sod all for St Georges Day. My theory is that if somehow a connection between St Georges Day and a "drink of choice" for the day could be created, it would take off and be celebrated a lot more! When I think of St Patrick's Day, I think of Guinness.
bloxy Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 A good few St Paddy's days ago my mother in law, lovely lady from Belfast, had been celebrating the day and had come to see the kids, my youngest boy would have been about 7 was asking her about his heritage... 'Granny, as you're from Ireland and my mum's half you then am I a bit Irish?' You have to imagine broad Belfast accent and paddy's day fuelled enthusiasm..' Oh Yes!' 'What about..' and he went through all his brothers and sisters to be answered with a resounding 'Oh Yes!' getting steadily louder and happier. Then 'What about Daddy?' I was stood in the next room doing something... She paused then 'He's just an English Pig!!!' at the top of her voice.... well I thought it was funny. Anyway, today I will be listening to the Pogues and watching the Boondock Saints.... Happy Paddy's Day

Ive got an awesome collection of guinness paraphanerlia I collected over my years working in the Off license during my student years.

Guinness is my favourite, but i notice in Australia its expensive! Well to be fair it is carted around the world.

But aye, alcohol is expensive over here full stop even the local brew. I had hoped it would curtail my drinking, its just costing me more money instead

"i'll only celebrate a saints day if its associated with booze". born and raised in england but you won't celebrate st. george because its just a day, but st. patrick is fine to celebrate because alcohol is associated. it's like saying i know i should really mark the 11/11 with two minutes silence, but f**k it, it's only associated with people dying, its got nothing to do with a pint of lager.

Sure they crawl around and scurry, yeah they're always on the run but a rat sure likes a good time just like you and me I'll prove it with a tale about a rat-infested brewery It started with a little lad named vermin McCann who fell upon a drink that made him feel like quite a man he rounded up his furry boys, though some wore a frown they quickly changed their tune and they slammed a couple down.
