Just had a minor problem with Discover today. I downed the SIMS box yesterday to add a couple of extra Gigs of RAM to the VM. Came to run the Discover Sync from a workstation today and it hung on 'Waiting for service' (or whatever). Checked the SIMSDiscoverDataTransferService and it hadn't started (although it had been set to Automatic). Started the service and all is now well...

Aargh!!!! Our head has recently taken the decision to go back to our LA for SIMS support......I did say I advised against it. Anyway...just had our first meeting with them and I said we need the Spring upgrade installing asap plus Discover. They were under the belief that Discover requires an additional paid for licence!!!! I put them right but this is the level we have now bought back into

It appears our LA block password protected ZIP's

Let's see how long it will take to download over 3G...

EDIT: In all likelihood, forever. I'll download at home tonight.

I agree with TechMonkey. SIMS & Discover are too fragile to be hosted in schools long term. InTouch was unreliable and bloated. SIMS/Discover should be used as a cloud hosted product, through the browser. Capita offer this hosted SIMS service.

The truth is when we compare CMIS and SIMS in 2015, the former is a simple and fairly robust product, but the latter is held together by glue. Every error and fix in the book is repeated when trying to support it.
