iDVD Multiplexing failures / DVD Burning alternatives

Media dept. seem to get these issues every year and there is no common link (or feedback) to why their idvd project fails to burn.

Does anyone have any solutions for idvd troubleshooting (bar apple.com superstitions)?

Alternatively does anyone use any other DVD authoring software? I used 'Toast' years and years ago and I understand that still exists although looks like 'Roxio' bought them out...?

Help!

What exactly are they creating, and does it need to be Mac based? Windows 7's own DVD Maker is good, very simple and reliably creates our coursework submissions for Drama etc.

Those 'media' types and their Macs! Have they tried the basic fixes so far, reducing disc burn speeds, changing the brand/batch of discs etc? Sorry, we don't use it much on our Macs so can't say for sure.

No that is the sort of superstition that I was talking about ... its a software issue since it occurs when you are 'burning' a disc image also (option click the burn 'iris')

Burn or LiquidCD. The former app is probably the better out of the two since it will convert non-DVD compliant videos into the correct format for you, while the latter has to be supplied with a VIDEO_TS folder.

Not quite. Roxio used to be a division of Adaptec which was later spun off into a separate company. They were then purchased by Sonic Solutions, who were most recently purchased by Rovi (the company formally known as Macrovision ).
