Outlook 2003 Account Settings

Ok im stuck,

 

I am trying to change the standard staff profiles, they used to just have a madatory they share.

 

Now what i want to do is have no profile in the profile path and just have it run the log on script redirect desktop, start menu etc etc,

 

but the only thing I cannot seem to figure out is how to deploy the exchange account settings, i cannot seem to find anything in the MS Office 2003 ADMs to do it.

 

It is a Vanilla 2003 network with xp clients

Hi,

We have a PRF file which is imported into Outlook on its first run. The PRF file contains you Outlook Account settings.

The PRF settings file can be created with the Office Customization Kit. A PRF Whitepaper is available here.

 

To get the PRF to import, we set the following registry key at logon:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Setup]
"ImportPRF"="\\\\nts1\\profiles\\exchange.prf"
"First-Run"=-

I believe that you can set the default path of the Outlook PST during the creation of the customised Office install mentioned above. I have pointed all our users to a folder on their home drives using this method.

you can get programs which automatically setup the exchange settings everytime exchange is run using the username of the logged on user. I used to use such a system when I ran mandatory profiles for students, and as you had mandatory profiles for staff, you must have had a simelar piece of software, as there would be no where else for the exchange settings to be stored.

any chance of deatiling how you would do this? i dont have exchange .... yet! but need to redirect the outlook.pst to thier home directories rather than have on the local drive.
